Seems like that’s been the theme for the month of February. This website building business for dianelowery.com has turned out to be more self-searching than I ever had expected. As a matter of fact, I just so naively assumed that I could bust out at the gate and go. No. It’s a process and one that has its own particular demands. And it’s not just one aspect! It’s many. What I thought was an apple; skin, fruit, core turned out to be an onion; layer after layer after layer and my eyes water from time to time, too. No core at all! Just keep finding onions, not apples.
Most poignant statement came to me about a couple of weeks ago (end of January beginning of February which was my target date to have a finished website) Charles Stanley’s wrapping up his daily radio program. “Don’t focus on success, focus on faithfulness.” AND at that same time I had been studying Galatians 2 and journeyed through Paul’s defending words and was reminded that his life’s goal was not his successful mission trips (which incidentally were the greatest in all the world) but it was simply this – “That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection.” Philippians 3:10
I don’t know my journey’s end here in this world. I can’t know it, I don’t have to know it, nor should I want to. Anyway, can’t get there authentically until I pick up the next layer of that onion. Life. Onions not apples. Proverbs 3:5&6 indeed.
Lord Jesus? Let me know YOU more today and let my focus be on YOU. Not the destination.
